The sky opened up with the arrival of blessed rains over large areas of the north of the Kingdom, bringing tidings of a new agricultural season that restores the land to its former vitality and awakens hope for overcoming the seasons of scarcity that have exhausted crops and farmers.
These rains dispelled much of the anxiety that had gripped farmers, bolstering hopes that the land would recover from the effects of drought and that agriculture would regain its role as an engine of development and a vital force in villages and agricultural areas. The recent rains also brought widespread relief to farmers, especially olive, grain, and vegetable growers, who saw them as a promising start to the agricultural season.
In this context, agricultural engineer Ayoub Moallem explained that these rainfalls have created a positive atmosphere among farmers, especially those growing rainfed olive trees, as this will directly improve productivity and crop quality.
In a statement to the Hespress electronic newspaper, Maalem added that the recent rainfall represents an important opportunity for farmers of grains, legumes and some dry vegetables, and encourages them to complete soil preparation and start planting operations in ideal conditions, noting that it will contribute relatively to strengthening the water reserves of dams, especially in the northwest and central regions, which constitutes essential support for agriculture during the next season.
The agricultural expert also mentioned the psychological and economic impact of early rains, and the resulting commercial boom in the acquisition of seeds and agricultural inputs, in addition to stimulating demand for seasonal labor and agricultural services.
For their part, a number of farmers from the regions of Ouezzane and Larache expressed their satisfaction with these rains, stressing that they came at the right time, especially for the olive trees which were in dire need of these quantities of water to strengthen the crop and improve quality, hoping that this positive season will be reflected in the productivity of their fields and in the local economic dynamics.
Several farmers in the north confirmed, in identical statements to Hespress, that the rain came at an ideal time with the start of the season, which opens up promising prospects after years of drought difficulties that some regions have experienced.
