President of the United States of America Donald Trump made a number of statements regarding the war that Russia is waging against Ukraine. In particular, he believed that it would be easiest to stop it,"but it turned out that there are serious personality conflicts."
Trump said the war would eventually be stopped, but noted that details of security guarantees had not yet been discussed.
"The countries of Europe are going to give them significant security guarantees, and they should do that because this is their continent. But we will participate in this from a support perspective, we will help them, and I think if we reach an agreement, we will support the peace because I want people to stop dying," the American leader said.
He also mentioned the aid provided to Ukraine by the Biden administration, saying it amounted to"$350 billion."
"I said Zelensky is the biggest traveling salesman I've ever met, because he comes into the country and leaves with $50 billion every time. But we're not giving Ukraine any money anymore. In fact, it's the other way around: they come through NATO, they ask for missiles, we sell NATO missiles. NATO pays us in full and does whatever they want with them," Trump added.
Trump on the meeting between Putin and Zelensky
When asked by a journalist why Russian dictator Vladimir Putin is so reluctant to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Trump responded as follows:
"Because he doesn't love him. He doesn't love him, you know? I have people I don't love too. I don't like dating them. So how do you get them together? They really don't love each other."
The American leader once again recalled that this war would not have happened if at that time the United States had had "a real president, not a person who came to power through rigged elections."
"Putin essentially said, 'If Trump were president, this wouldn't have happened.' It happened for a lot of reasons. It happened because of Afghanistan. When he saw how incompetent Milley and all these guys were, I think he said, 'Well, maybe it's time.' Because Ukraine has always been a hot potato for him. This would never have happened if I were president," Donald Trump summed up.
