Two men attacked a 42-year-old man with a knife in Dortmund. The victim sustained life-threatening injuries. Following a public appeal, the two men reported to the police.

Two suspects who allegedly inflicted life-threatening injuries on a 42-year-old man in Dortmund have been brought before a judge.

Following a public manhunt, the two young men turned themselves in, police reported. They are accused of a knife attack in the Ruhr region city last Saturday.

An arrest warrant was issued against the 20-year-old alleged main perpetrator from Lünen. A 19-year-old alleged accomplice reportedly did not meet the requirements for pre-trial detention. A homicide squad is investigating the case.

The attack occurred on Saturday between 7:15 p.m. and 7:25 p.m. in downtown Dortmund. A verbal argument initially escalated, followed by a physical altercation, according to police and prosecutors. According to the police report, the two young men initially attacked their victim with punches and kicks. Then, one of the two suspects stabbed the victim in the left side, nearly fatally.

The two men fled the scene. Police searched for them using surveillance camera footage from the attack. Police have not yet released any further details about the suspects.
