Moroccan international Achraf Hakimi, Paris Saint-Germain player and captain of the national team, won the award for best player in Africa for the year 2025.

Hakimi was announced as the best player in Africa during the annual ceremony organized by the Confederation of African Football, this evening, in the Moroccan capital, Rabat.

Alongside Hakimi, Liverpool's Egyptian star Mohamed Salah and Nigerian Victor Osimhen also competed.

Hakimi deserved this award after an exceptional season, during which he won the Champions League with his French team Paris Saint-Germain at the expense of Italian Inter Milan, in addition to winning the French League title, the Cup and the European Super Cup in the same season, as well as finishing as runner-up in the Club World Cup.

The captain of the"Lions" had finished in sixth place in the Ballon d'Or award.

Former Moroccan international Mustapha Hadji is the last Moroccan player to have won the Ballon d'Or in 1998.

It is worth noting that Hakimi suffered a serious ankle injury in the Champions League.
