Gaza’s Rafah crossing with Egypt will probably be reopened on Sunday, Israel’s Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar said on Thursday, without specifying whether the crossing would be opened for the passage of humanitarian aid or for people. Earlier, Turkey announced it had sent 81 disaster relief experts to the Gaza Strip, some of whom will help with finding the remains of 19 hostages still unaccounted for. Follow our live for the latest developments.

Yesterday's developments:

  • Planning has begun for an international force to go into Gaza to stabilise security in the Palestinian enclave, two senior US advisers said on Wednesday.
  • Hamas aims to stick to its pledge to return the bodies of dead hostages in Gaza, the senior US advisors added, after Israel threatened to resume fighting because only a few had been returned.
  • Israel said its forces received the bodies of two more hostage from the Red Cross, which had been returned under a US-brokered ceasefire deal in Gaza.
  • Hamas said it handed back to Israel the remains of all the deceased hostages it can reach, and that it will need special recovery equipment to reach more bodies promised under the ceasefire deal.
