Turkish media reported that forest fires broke out in the cities of Orhaneli and Gürsu in Bursa province due to strong southerly winds, threatening residential areas in the area.
Forest fires raging in the Turkish city of Bursa have spread to several residential neighborhoods, prompting authorities to intervene.
Strong southerly winds battered Bursa, sparking wildfires in two separate areas. Firefighters are continuing their intensive efforts to contain the blazes in difficult weather conditions in the Orhaneli and Gürsu districts.
As efforts to control the forest fire continue, reports have emerged of a new fire breaking out in the Aglashan neighborhood of Badshkaya, Gürsu, posing a serious threat to residents.
All relevant units in Bursa were mobilized to combat the series of fires. Given the threat posed by the fires in the Gürsu area to residential areas, numerous firefighting and forestry teams were dispatched to the area.
Air efforts were also launched to support ground operations and prevent the spread of the fire, with helicopters and firefighting planes dispatched to the area. Authorities reported that firefighting efforts at both sites are continuing without interruption.
The Bursa Metropolitan Municipality issued a statement saying,"Due to the ongoing and spreading forest fire, a decision has been made to evacuate the Karahidir neighborhood in the Gürsu district. Buses have been deployed to assist in the evacuation of our citizens. The Bursa Metropolitan Municipality's sports complex has also been prepared to receive citizens affected by the fire."
