Iran’s president urges Muslim countries to unite and end Israeli aggression

Monday, September 15

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian says all Muslim countries must reinforce unity and strive to put an end to Israeli crimes against the regional nations, particularly the people of Palestine.

Pezeshkian made the remarks in a meeting with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani on the sidelines of an emergency summit of Arab and Islamic states in the Qatari capital, Doha, on Monday.

The event is being held to discuss a formal response to Israel’s September 9 strikes attempting to assassinate the leaders of the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas in Doha.

The Iranian president said Israel continues its atrocities, joined at the hip with the United States and enjoying the support of European countries.

Pezeshkian said the regime would not dare to commit such crimes if Muslim nations were united.

“The Zionist regime, on one hand, commits crimes through continuous bombardments against the defenseless people of Gaza, and on the other hand, sacrifices children, women, and men to hunger. This is absolutely intolerable,” the Iranian president stated.

Israel launched its acts of aggression against the Islamic Republic amid the nuclear negotiations between Iran and the United States, he said, just as the regime’s attack on Hamas leaders, who were meeting to discuss the US proposal for a ceasefire in Gaza.

“Such attitudes lay bare as lies the claims of the Americans and Westerners regarding diplomacy and human rights.”

The top Hamas leaders survived the strikes. However, five members of the Gaza-based resistance group and a Qatari security officer were killed.

The United Nations Security Council unanimously condemned the Israeli strikes.

Speaking before departing for Doha, Pezeshkian said Muslim countries need to boycott the regime and adopt a more united and coherent position in the face of Israel's acts of aggression.

Iraqi PM urges Muslims to take practical measures to halt Israel’s crimes

The Iraqi prime minister, for his part, said Israel violated all international regulations by conducting the aggression in Doha.

Sudani urged Muslim countries to make use of their utmost capacities and take serious and practical measures to end the crimes of Israel.

He said efforts to develop a united position among Muslim countries should not be confined to mere meetings and statements.

Sudani placed a premium on the need for practical actions to prevent the recurrence of Israel’s crimes.
