Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Israeli Ambassador to the United States (US) Yechiel Leiter said there would be several surprise attacks amid Tel Aviv's conflict with Iran. He said the upcoming attack would make the pager and walkie-talkie attack on Lebanon look 'simple'.

"We've done a number of surprises," Leiter said during an appearance on the Merit Street TV network on Tuesday (6/17/2025), as quoted by Fox News.

"When the dust settles, you're going to see some surprises on Thursday night and Friday that will make the pager operation seem almost simple," he continued.

Leiter was referring to the near-simultaneous explosions of pagers and walkie-talkies in Lebanon and Syria on September 17, 2024—used by members of the Iranian-backed terror group Hezbollah.

The attack killed at least 12 people, including two children, and wounded nearly 3,000. A day later, at least 25 people were killed and more than 600 injured when walkie-talkies were detonated in the area.

Israel was later named as the mastermind behind the attack. A small amount of explosives hidden inside the device was found to be linked to Israel.

A U.S. official told The Associated Press at the time that Israel briefed the U.S. government after the attack. But then-Secretary of State Antony Blinken said the U.S. “had no knowledge of, or involvement in, this incident.”

Earlier, Israeli fighter jets struck several military and nuclear sites in Iran on Friday (6/13/2025) morning local time, including killing several senior commanders and nuclear scientists. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called the attack an attempt to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons.

Iran responded by launching ballistic missiles at several Israeli cities, including Tel Aviv. Although the United States (US) denied its involvement, President Donald Trump expressed support for Israel's military operation. As a result, Iran temporarily suspended nuclear talks with Washington.
