The US administration has given Ukraine a one-week deadline to accept the 28-point peace framework it is promoting, with two sources saying the US has warned of a possible end to the supply of weapons and intelligence if no agreement is reached.
US President Donald Trump confirmed in a radio interview that he considers next Thursday to be an appropriate deadline for Kiev to respond.
In a address to the citizens , Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky dramatically described the situation as one of the most difficult moments in the country's history, noting that Kiev is faced with a dilemma : The loss of its key ally or the loss of its dignity.
In his message, he warned about the country's limits of endurance: Yes, we are made of steel, but even the strongest metal can break at some point.
He appealed for unity: I appeal to everyone: stop the fights and pull together.
And he stressed that he remains committed to the national interest and that Ukrainians remain united in critical moments: I know that I am not alone. Ukrainians are with me. We did not betray Ukraine on February 24 and we will not betray it now.
Zelensky's statement
Vladimir Putin stated that Russia has received the American proposals and believes that they could form the basis for a final peaceful settlement , adding that the Ukrainian side is opposed.
He criticized Kiev and European governments, arguing that they do not understand the real situation on the ground.
Russia, during the meeting in Alaska, confirmed that despite the difficulties, it agrees with the proposals of the American side for the settlement. After the negotiations in Alaska, there was a pause on the part of the US side, which is related to Ukraine's refusal to accept the Trump plan, he said.
Russia as a whole is satisfied with the current situation, which leads to the achievement of the goals of the"Special Military Operation" through armed struggle, but Moscow is also ready for peaceful negotiations, he added.
The Ukrainian president, throughout the day, had a marathon of international contacts.
Zelensky spoke with the leaders of Britain, Germany, and France, while he had nearly an hour of conversation with US Vice President Jay Dee Vance and US Secretary of the Army Dan Driscoll.
He also had conversations with the EU leadership and the head of NATO.
Reuters, citing sources, reported that Ukraine, Britain, France and Germany are working on a joint counter-proposal , while the Europeans are making it clear that no process for Ukraine can proceed without Ukraine itself.
European leaders will discuss the issue on Saturday on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Johannesburg.

A senior US official said it was not accurate that Washington threatened to cut off the information, noting that the text emerged after amendments allegedly suggested by Rustem Umerov, the current secretary of Ukraine's Security Council.
Umerov denied any agreement, emphasizing that he had no relevant authorization and that his role was exclusively technical.
