Jakarta, CNN Indonesia --
The United States Federal Bureau of Investigation ( FBI ) said Tyler Robinson, the murder suspect Charlie Kirk was arrested within 33 hours of the shooting incident on Wednesday (10/9).
Robinson was immediately detained at the county jail in Spanish Fork, Utah, since Thursday (11/9), at 10:00 p.m. local time.
"In less than 36 hours, 33 hours to be exact, thanks to the full support of the federal government and the direction of partners in the state of Utah and Governor Cox, the suspect was arrested in a historic time period," Patel said at a press conference, Friday (12/9) local time, quoted by CNN.
Patel said the FBI has been evaluating forensic evidence, with more than 11,000 leads being examined where possible.
In the press conference, Patel expressed his deep condolences for Kirk.
"To my friend, Charlie Kirk: Rest easy, my brother. We have a watch. And I will see you in Valhalla," he said.
According to CNN's search, Robinson, a 22-year-old youth, was an outstanding student from a small suburb in Utah.
Voter registration records show that he is not affiliated with any party and has not voted in the last two elections.
Utah Governor Spencer Cox said a Robinson family member told investigators that he had"become more political in recent years" and had criticized Kirk.
Robinson grew up in Washington, Utah, and earned a scholarship to attend Utah State University, according to public records and social media.
A Facebook video posted by his mother in 2021 shows Robinson reading a letter about his presidential scholarship at the university.
Cox believes Robinson acted alone in carrying out his actions. He said the investigation is ongoing to determine the alleged involvement of others.
"At this time we do not have any information that would lead to additional arrests," Cox said.
