US Vice President J.D. Vance said that the negotiated agreement between Russia and Ukraine is unlikely to satisfy either side of the conflict. The United States is trying to find a solution that both sides can agree to, TASR reports, citing Reuters.

"Nobody is going to be very happy about this. The Russians and the Ukrainians are probably going to be unhappy with this in the end," Vance said in an interview with Fox News aired on Sunday.

Planned meeting in Alaska

US President Donald Trump announced that he will meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska next Friday, August 15, to discuss ending the war in Ukraine. According to the White House chief, Moscow and Kiev are close to a ceasefire agreement, while Ukraine may have to give up a significant part of its territory.

But Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Saturday that his country cannot violate its own constitution when it comes to territorial issues."Ukrainians are not giving their land to the occupiers," he declared.

Preparing for leadership interviews

Vance said in an interview with Fox News recorded on Friday that the US is working to schedule talks between Putin, Zelensky and Trump. However, he himself does not believe it would be beneficial for Putin to meet with Zelensky before talks with the US president.

A White House official said Saturday evening that Trump is open to the idea of a summit with both leaders, but Washington is currently planning a bilateral meeting, as requested by Putin.
