Russian propaganda is spreading a fake on social media about the alleged murder of three civilians by Ukrainian soldiers in the Sumy region.
As Ukrinform reports, the Center for Countering Disinformation under the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine reported this on.
This time, pro-Kremlin channels are spreading a story about the alleged brutal murder of three civilians, allegedly committed by soldiers of the 95th Airborne Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine near the village of Nyzy in Sumy region. To make it seem more believable, a screenshot of a message from the Facebook page of the Sumy region police is being spread. It is stated that the deceased were involved in the illegal production of alcohol. Two photos are attached to the post - cans of beer and jars of moonshine, the message says.
The Central Police Department noted that in fact there is no such post on the official pages of the National Police of Ukraine.
There are no mentions or even photo matches in the official accounts of the police or regional media. Real police reports are characterized by the presence of a watermark on the photo from the crime scene, here it is also absent. The choice of photo to illustrate the post is also unusual. It would be more logical to add photos related to this crime to a report about a triple murder: it could be a photo of the murder weapon or the room where the crime occurred. There are no such photos here. There is also no journalistic information about the triple murder - an event that would certainly have become resonant for local media, - the Central Crime and Investigation Center emphasized.
The center also asked the National Police for verification. They confirmed that the information spread by the Russians about a triple murder in Sumshchyna is fake.
Such allegations are part of a systematic Russian campaign to discredit the Armed Forces of Ukraine: fakers take real criminal news and add fabricated details about the alleged involvement of Ukrainian military personnel in them. The Center has repeatedly refuted such fakes. The enemy's goal is to undermine trust in the army and create a split between the military and civilians, the Center emphasized.
As Ukrinform reported, in the second half of October, Russian propaganda intensifies a disinformation campaign about Ukraine's alleged unpreparedness for winter and its inability to repel Russia.
