247 - During a telephone interview with the American network ABC News this Sunday (15), the President of the United States, Donald Trump, stated that there is a possibility of the country's involvement in the current conflict between Israel and Iran, reports CNN.

According to Trump, the US is not yet directly involved in military actions, but he does not rule out this possibility. “We are not involved in this. It is possible that we will become involved. But at this point, we are not involved,” said the president, in a direct response to the US government’s position regarding the escalation of tensions in the Middle East.

Asked by Scott if there would be a deadline for Iran to agree to dialogue with the United States, Trump denied any kind of ultimatum. “No, there is no deadline, but they are talking. They would like to make a deal. They are talking. They continue to talk,” he said.

Nuclear talks between the United States and Iran, which were scheduled to take place in Oman on Sunday, have been canceled. However, Trump indicated that diplomatic talks are ongoing and that the latest confrontations could speed up the search for an agreement. “They want to talk, and they will talk,” he said. “The recent escalations may have forced a deal to be concluded more quickly, in fact.”

During the interview, Trump also revealed that he had been contacted by Russian President Vladimir Putin, who offered to mediate the crisis between Israel and Iran. The US president confirmed the call and said he had had a long conversation with the Russian leader. “He is ready. He called me about it. We had a long conversation,” he said.
