Israel confirms ceasefire

"Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu convened his cabinet overnight (...) to announce that Israel has achieved all the objectives of Operation Lion's Leap," the government said in a statement, adding that both the nuclear threat from Iran and the threat posed by its ballistic missiles had been eliminated.

US President Donald Trump reportedly announced on Monday evening that Iran and Israel had reached an agreement on a"complete and final" ceasefire.

Trump made this announcement on Monday around 6 p.m. (Tuesday around 1 a.m. Latvian time).

The US president said that Iran would cease fire first, followed by Israel 12 hours later. In another 24 hours, the 12-day war would be over, the White House official said.

Iranian state television confirmed on Tuesday morning that a ceasefire had come into effect.

Later, Iranian media announced that the ceasefire had come into effect at 7:30 a.m. Tehran time (7 a.m. Latvian time).

Trump announced on his social media site"Truth Social" that the ceasefire between Israel and Iran is "now in effect."

"Please don't cross it!" the US president emphasized.
