Recent explosions in Doha have coincided with the confirmation of an airstrike directed by the Israel Defense Forces and the Shin Bet against the leadership of the terrorist organization Hamas.

According to official information, the operation targeted senior Hamas leaders, who are believed to be responsible for planning and carrying out the October 7 massacre and waging the war against Israel. The offensive, supported by the Air Force, used precision weapons and relied on additional intelligence to reduce the risk of civilian casualties.

Israeli officials said they implemented specific measures to minimize harm to bystanders before launching the attack, highlighting the use of advanced technology and intelligence gathering as part of their strategy. The Hamas leaders targeted in the operation have been at the forefront of the organization's activities for years, according to the official version, and are held directly responsible for both the October 7 massacre and the subsequent escalation of the war.

The Israel Defense Forces and the Shin Bet reiterated their commitment to continue acting decisively to defeat Hamas, which they hold responsible for the attacks and the current conflict situation.

"The Israeli army and the Israeli security agency carried out a targeted strike against senior leaders of the Hamas terrorist organization," the military said, without specifying where the attack took place.

According to the Qatari network Al Jazeera, which cited a Hamas official, the bombing hit negotiators with the Islamist movement in Doha. An AFP journalist confirmed that the attack hit a compound used by Hamas in that city.

"For years, these members of the Hamas leadership have directed the terrorist group's operations, are directly responsible for the brutal massacre of October 7, and have been orchestrating and managing the war against the State of Israel," the Israeli forces stated in their statement.

The news comes amid a surge in US-led negotiations for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

On Tuesday, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar said that Israel has accepted US President Donald Trump's latest proposal under the conditions that all hostages in the Gaza Strip are released and Hamas lays down its weapons.

Until now, the Islamists' negotiating delegation has been led by Khalil al Hayya, a member of the group's political bureau based in Qatar.

In recent days, Hamas, which wants a deal with guarantees that Israel will end its offensive, has stated that it is “open to any idea or proposal that would allow for a comprehensive ceasefire” and the “complete withdrawal” of Israeli forces from Gaza.

Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed al-Ansari confirmed the Israeli attack on Tuesday on “several members of the Hamas movement’s political office in Doha” and that Qatar has launched an investigation “at the highest level” into the attack.
