US President Donald Trump assured the press on Tuesday that weapons are already being sent from his country to Ukraine.
They're already being shipped. They're coming from Germany and then being replaced by Germany, Trump told reporters after an event in Pennsylvania.
He, however, avoided being more specific, as he did not specify either the types of weapons or their number.
Trump stated that payments would come either through NATO or directly from EU member states, emphasizing that we will get our money back in full.
Furthermore, the Republican noted that has not spoken with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin since he gave him a 50-day deadline to reach a peace deal with Ukraine and threatened that otherwise even stricter sanctions would be imposed, the day before yesterday, Monday.
It is noted that on Monday, Trump threatened Moscow with new tariffs if it does not agree to a ceasefire with Kiev within 50 days, while, according to sources in the Financial Times newspaper, he privately encouraged his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky to the Ukrainian army to strike Moscow after Kiev received long-range American missiles.
The Trump-Zelensky conversation led to the development of a list of weapons systems, which the US Pentagon presented to the Ukrainian president on the sidelines of the summit in Rome last week. The list contains many long-range missile systems, which could be imported into Ukraine via a third country. This would allow Trump to bypass the congressional approval required for any export of American weapons to a war zone. The Ukrainians have requested Tomahawk missiles, with an effective range of over 1,600 km.
