Devastating performance

Sinner played a perfect semifinal against Djokovic : except for the first three games of the third set, he dominated the Serbian in every aspect of his game. He won 81% of his first serve points against the best returner in history, tied the number of aces (12 each), made fewer errors and hit more winners (36 to 27). He was deadly on returns : the number of points won by Sinner on Djokovic's second serve is frightening, 25 out of 30.

More generally, Sinner has shown that he has a rhythm and a heaviness in his shots that have become unsustainable for Djokovic. At 38 years old, the Serbian has lost some power in his shots and some speed in his movements: he can still get by against everyone else, not against Sinner (and Alcaraz). This match and this Wimbledon in general have once again demonstrated a clear concept: Sinner is on another planet, inhabited only by Alcaraz, the only one who to date can challenge him and beat him. On Sunday, the grass in London will be the scene of the second consecutive Slam final between the two new dominators of tennis. For Sinner, it's his fourth consecutive Slam final, a monstrous feat. He's got there thanks to some simply devastating tennis: in total, he conceded two sets to Dimitrov at Wimbledon, in a match hampered by his elbow problem. When he's been fit, he's always won in three sets.
