Kremlin's NATO War Claims

The second incursion of Russian aircraft into NATO territory cannot be a coincidence, European capitals warn. Ukrainians will train NATO units on how to defend themselves against drones.

We reported that on Saturday, a Russian drone flew into Romanian airspace over the territory of Ukraine and penetrated deep into the territory of the NATO member. The Romanian air defense sent F-16 fighters into the air, but they only monitored how the aircraft turned around and left Romanian territory after a while.

Something similar, but much more dramatic, happened in the middle of the week, when 19 drones invaded Polish airspace. NATO therefore decided to greatly reinforce its eastern flank with air support.

"Against such a liar..."

According to the Guardian, Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski warned that this was the Kremlin's testing of NATO member states' reactions and air defenses, with the understanding that Russian President Vladimir Putin does not need to fear a violent response from Western countries for now.

"It is interesting that all the drones were unarmed, which shows that Russia wants to test us without starting a war," Sikorski said, rejecting suggestions that Poland's air defenses were unprepared, despite some of the drones penetrating hundreds of kilometers deep into the country, and only three or four of the 19 were shot down. According to Sikorski, the drones did not hit their targets, and damage to Polish property was minimal, he said. Poland's response would be much more forceful if the drones had caused injuries or even deaths, but he declined to say how it would respond."Against such an aggressor and liar as Putin, only the most decisive countermeasures would be sufficient," he said.

The alarm was raised again in Poland on Friday when authorities closed the airport in the city of Lublin, but no drones were found. On Saturday, Romania recorded a drone incursion, which EU foreign minister Kaja Kallas described as"unacceptable."

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky wrote on the X network that the drone penetrated about ten kilometers deep and remained in the airspace of Romania, a NATO member, for about 50 minutes, STA reports.

"The Russian military knows exactly where its drones are flying and how long they can stay in the air. Their routes are always precisely calculated. This cannot be a coincidence, a mistake or the initiative of some lower commanders. This is a clear expansion of the war by Russia," he assessed.

Ukrainians have switched roles - now they will be the instructors

Sikorski revealed that instructors from Ukraine will train Polish units to combat drones in the coming weeks."This is something that the public and governments in the West must urgently take note of, that now it will be the Ukrainians who will teach us how to confront Russia, not the other way around." According to him, the training will take place in Polish military centers.

Sikorski was among the participants in an international conference in Kiev, Ukraine, where domestic and foreign politicians discussed the continuation of the war, which has been going on for almost three and a half years. US President Donald Trump also briefly addressed the participants via video conference, reiterating that the war would not have started in the first place if he had been president in 2022 instead of Joe Biden.

His special envoy Keith Kellogg was personally at the conference and told the audience that Trump had become frustrated with Putin. But he also warned European NATO allies not to put too much pressure on the American president."One thing I would definitely recommend is not putting him in a position where he feels like you're taking advantage of him. That's probably the worst thing you could want."
