European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and US President Donald Trump will meet this Sunday, July 27, in Scotland.
“Following a good conversation with [Trump], we have agreed to meet in Scotland on Sunday to discuss transatlantic trade relations and how we can keep them strong,” von der Leyen posted on social media.
Following a good call with @POTUS, we have agreed to meet in Scotland on Sunday to discuss transatlantic trade relations, and how we can keep them strong.

The meeting between the two fuels expectations that the bloc and the world's largest economy may be close to reaching a trade agreement. This comes at a time when speculation is mounting that this possible agreement could involve the application of 15% tariffs on most US imports from its largest trading partner.
The agreement, the Financial Times reported this week, could be similar to that reached between Japan and the US.
The information shared by the leader of the Community Executive on the social network X comes after Trump said, this Friday, that"there is a 50-50 chance, maybe less than that, but a 50% chance of making a deal with the EU".
Von der Leyen will travel to Scotland, where Trump will spend a weekend playing golf and meeting with British officials who are pressuring the US administration to reduce tariffs on steel and whisky, according to the British newspaper.
