León residents' outcry over fire management:"What was I going to do? Leave everything?"
"When you are in front of the flames you feel like a doll in front of nature," explains Carlos as he walks the paths between the houses of the Leonese town of Carucedo. But the feeling of insignificance begins long before reaching Carucedo. Just drive along the A-6, towards A Coruña, to notice that something is not as it should be. At the height of Bembibre, the sky turns gray and the ash—thick, almost leaden—falls on the buildings like impure snow. The silhouette of the Rosaleda Tower can barely be seen, a figure that seems to float among smoke and dust. It is the result of the fires that affect El Bierzo and the Lower Cabrera, to which are added another seven that were still active on Monday night in the province of León - five of them serious, two very serious - a map of fire that draws, in the middle of summer, an entire province on the brink of suffocation.
It is believed that a thunderstorm The fire that occurred early Sunday morning is believed to be the source of the multiple outbreaks affecting the mountain range separating Yebes from Carucedo, which has brought danger to the natural surroundings of Las Médulas. The almost linear distribution of the fire, located on the upper part of the mountain, as a Civil Guard captain deployed to the scene explained to EL MUNDO, confirms the natural origin of these two outbreaks.

Pastures, beehives, and chestnut trees are among the agricultural damage caused by the fires in Castilla y León.
The burning of pastures, beehives, chestnut groves and cereal fields stand out among the agricultural damage that the fires are causing in Castilla y León, especially in the area of The Medulas in the province of León, according to the agricultural organization Asaja.
The general secretary of Asaja Castilla y León, and provincial secretary of Asaja in León, José Antonio Zurrado , told Efe in a telephone conversation, that damage to livestock and the burning of pastures - on farms near the mountains - are among the main consequences of the fires.
Zurrado, a resident of Pinilla de la Valdería (León), a town currently evacuated, has referred especially to the fire in Las Médulas but also to others that are harming Castilla y León, some"caused accidentally".
The problem with pastures, he added, is that fire destroys them and the animals are left without food, but also the enclosure of that land, for five years, because during that period the rancher you can't take advantage of them nor declare in their file to request aid from the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP).

The government is refusing to take responsibility for the fires while controversy grows over politicians' responses during vacations.
The Ministry of the Interior declared the Pre-Emergency Phase this Tuesday in response to the multiple fires that have broken out across Spain. Activating this level does not require the intervention of state agencies in the direction and management of emergencies. Therefore, the Government does not assume control of the situation and leaves the organization of extinguishing operations in the hands of the affected autonomous communities.
At the same time, the controversy intensifies with conflicting statements regarding the politicians' responses during vacation. The President of Castile and León, Alfonso Fernández Mañueco (PP), interrupted his meetings on Monday and traveled to Zamora to attend the meeting of the autonomous Integrated Operational Coordination Center (Cecopi) while the Minister of Transport, Oscar Puente , publicly criticized him for his delay.
Through his official X account, Puente called" scoundrels "to Mañueco, and his Environment advisor, Juan Carlos Suárez-Quiñones , for"partying" during the fires affecting the community."One hasn't returned from Cadiz and the other is going to Gijón to eat," he criticized in several messages.

Madrid hopes to bring the Tres Cantos fire under control this morning.
The Minister of Environment, Agriculture and the Interior of the Community of Madrid, Carlos Novillo, has indicated that he hopes that the vegetation fire that occurred in the municipality of Tres Cantos can be considered under control this Tuesday morning.
"We hope that with all the work already being done with aerial resources, it can be declared under control this morning. It will take a little longer to declare it extinguished due to the temperatures and winds predicted for midday," he told the media at the command post set up at the town's fairgrounds.
Novillo lamented the death of the man who suffered burns over 98% of his body. He was rescued by the Civil Guard at a riding school in the Soto de Viñuelas residential area. Due to the high percentage of burns, he did not survive.
The fire has been contained and the councillor stressed that"it was a very difficult night with extremely low relative humidity of over 30 degrees across the area, which meant that the flame fronts remained active."
"The work has been carried out mainly with heavy machinery and with crews from the Community of Madrid Fire Department, Forestry Brigades, the Military Emergency Unit (UME) and the Madrid City Council Fire Department, who have practically surrounded the entire perimeter," he explained.

Aerial resources are already responding to the Atlanterra fire, whose residents are still unable to return to their homes.
Infoca personnel continue working, now with the addition of aerial resources, on the fire that has been raging in the Atlanterra and Tarifa areas since Monday afternoon. More than 2,000 people have been evacuated from homes, hotels, and beaches such as Bolonia and Los Alemanes.
The situation, due to the strong winds, remains complex, and firefighters, along with heavy machinery, planes, and helicopters, are working hard to first control and then extinguish the blaze. Road traffic has been reopened at the entrances to Barbate and Zahara, but it is still recommended not to travel to Atlanterra and the surrounding area, where there are beach bars, bathing areas, and leisure facilities.
The Minister of the Presidency of the Andalusian Regional Government, Antonio Sanz, has assessed the situation after an intense night of activity by ground forces who, since the early hours of the morning, have already had the help of 10 aerial resources. It has been decided to create two zones to cordon off the affected area. In the northern zone, which affects Atlanterra, Los Alemanes beach and the Cortijo hotel, the area that was most at risk, the return of residents and tourists is not yet permitted. Something that will be carried out during the morning in the southern part. Urbanizations such as Mar de Plata, Almadraba or Jardines de Zahara, as well as hotels such as Atlántico or Varadero, will gradually return to normal.

A"favorable" night for the Yeres fire (León) with almost 80% of the perimeter under control.
The extinguishing device has managed to control between 70 and 80 percent of the perimeter of the forest fire declared in the Yeres area (León) during the night, according to the fire technician in charge, Enrique Rey, who has specified that the work has focused on areas accessible to machinery and ground brigades.
However, in the upper part, with rocky terrain and a steep slope, it has not been possible to act with ground personnel during the night, which keeps 20 percent of the perimeter active, which Rey has described as"complex" and which could prolong the work for several more days.
Currently, only the municipality of Voces has a flame front, although the same towns in the area remain evacuated pending Cecopi's decision. Specifically, the situation in Voces, a town located to the south, shows a minimal probability of the flames reaching it, as a small front is slowly descending towards the town and will be addressed during the morning with air resources and ground brigades to try to stop it.
In addition, another active front persists on the north side, in an elevated and difficult-to-access area, which has advanced overnight and is"somewhat long," according to the technician. Despite this situation, Rey emphasized that the remaining towns are not at risk and that the overnight forecast is"very favorable."

The fire, which forced the evacuation of around fifteen towns in both provinces, mobilized night crews and machinery teams last night, who were able to work"quite well, anticipating the onset of daylight and the various wind changes we may have," said the head of the Forest Fire Service of the Regional Government of Castile and León, Ángel Sánchez.
He explained that throughout the night they have worked both on perimeter work around the fire area with machinery crews and on setting up backfires, also known as technical fires as they are controlled burns to eliminate combustible material and thus prevent the fire from spreading.

According to Infoca, after declaring the fire stabilized yesterday afternoon, a group of forest firefighters, an environmental agent, and a fire engine continue working to bring it under control in the area. The difficulty in declaring it under control lies in the fact that the fire started in a difficult-to-access area with a lot of vegetation, near the Ribera de San Agustín.
