Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman said Tuesday his country wanted to normalize relations with Israel through US President Donald Trump’s Abraham Accords, but first needed a “clear path” to Palestinian statehood.

“We want to be part of the Abraham Accords. But we want also to be sure that we secure a clear path of two-state solution,” MBS said in the Oval Office alongside Trump.

“We’re going to work on that, to be sure that we can prepare the right situation as soon as possible,” he added.

“We want peace for the Israelis. We want peace for the Palestinians… We want them to coexist peacefully in the region, and we will do our best to reach that date.”

Saudi Arabia has repeatedly stated that it would normalize relation with Israel without a Palestinian state.

During the same meeting, MBS said Saudi Arabia Kingdom will increase investments in the US to $1 trillion.

Trump, for his part, said Saudi Arabia will get F-35 fighter jets that are “pretty similar” to those that Israel possesses, calling both countries great allies. He added that the US has reached a defense deal with Saudi Arabia.

The US president also said that he can see a civilian nuclear deal happening with Saudi Arabia.
