Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accused the Australian government of fanning antisemitism ahead of Sunday's attack on a Jewish celebration in Sydney that killed 12 people.

Referring to a letter he sent to Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese in August after Canberra announced it would recognize a Palestinian state, Netanyahu said,"Three months ago I wrote to the Australian prime minister; your policy is fanning the flames of antisemitism."

On the other hand, the Israeli government reacted by claiming that the armed attack on the beach in Sydney stemmed from the"anti-Semitic policies" of the Australian government, which was responding to Israel's genocidal attacks in the Gaza Strip.

Israeli intelligence sources also blamed Iran for the Sydney attack.

ISRAEL ACCUSES IRAN

According to a report in the Israel Hayom newspaper, citing Israeli intelligence sources, Iran, Hezbollah, and Hamas have allegedly been preparing attacks against Jews abroad in recent months.

An Israeli source, who claimed to have received intelligence about a planned attack in Australia, alleged that Tehran was behind the attack.

Israeli President Isaac Herzog described the attack in Sydney, Australia, as"horrific," adding,"We have repeatedly warned the Australian government that it must act decisively to eradicate the criminal antisemitism spreading in the country in order to prevent harm to Jews living there."

Foreign Minister Gideon Saar, expressing his horror at the attack, claimed that"These are the consequences of the anti-Semitic violence that has been taking place on the streets of Australia for the last two years, and of the anti-Semitic and provocative calls to 'globalize the intifada'," while threatening the Canberra government with the words,"The Australian government must now come to its senses."

UK AND IRELAND EXPRESS SUPPORT FOR AUSTRALIA AFTER BEACH ATTACK

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, in a post on the social media platform account of the US-based X company, stated,"The news from Australia is very sad. The United Kingdom extends its condolences and thoughts to everyone affected by the horrific attack at Bondi Beach."

Starmer stated that he was frequently informed about the developments. British opposition leader Kemi Badenoch said in her post,"It looks like a despicable terrorist attack."

Ed Davey, leader of the Liberal Democrats, Britain's third-largest party, also shared a statement saying,"I am horrified by the despicable attack at Bondi Beach. My thoughts and prayers are with the families of those tragically killed."

Irish Prime Minister Michael Martin also expressed his support for Australia in a statement, saying,"I am shocked by the attack at Bondi Beach in Sydney that claimed the lives of 10 people. My thoughts and prayers are with the families of the deceased, the injured, the first responders, and the Australian people."

Martin stressed that such acts of violence and hatred are completely unacceptable.

Irish Minister for Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade Helen McEntee also shared messages of support and condolences, stating,"So far we have not received any information that any Irish citizen has been directly affected by this terrible event, but our consulate in Sydney is closely monitoring the situation."

Far-right Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich stated,"We demand that the Australian government take strong action against the rising antisemitism in the country and protect Jews."
