The warning is valid from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. for districts in the Bratislava, Trnava, Nitra and Banská Bystrica regions."High temperatures pose a potential danger to human health, physical activity and the formation of fires," meteorologists remind.

The SHMÚ is also warning of exceptionally warm weather for Monday afternoon, and in this case the warning has been extended to the entire south and west of Slovakia, with the exception of the northwestern districts.

The temperature may reach 34 degrees Celsius on Monday afternoon, and up to 36 degrees Celsius in the border regions of the Nitra and Banská Bystrica regions. An increased level 2 warning is in effect for the districts of Komárno, Nové Zámky, Levice, Krupina, Veľký Krtíš and Lučenec on Monday between 1:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.

The expected heatwave will peak on Monday afternoon and be replaced by storms. The Slovak Meteorological Institute explains that a cold front will move through the territory of the Slovak Republic during Monday."The weather will begin to affect in the afternoon and evening hours and will bring, in addition to cloudiness in places, showers and storms, especially in the western half of the territory," meteorologists say.

They warn that storms can also be intense - accompanied by downpours and strong gusty winds."A storm system accompanied by stronger winds may again form over a larger area, most likely in western Slovakia - there with wind gusts of over 70 km/h," they add.

The Slovak Meteorological Institute (SHMÚ) has issued a level 1 storm warning for the entire western and central Slovakia for Monday late afternoon and evening.
