IDF accuses the UN mission in Lebanon:"They shot down one of our drones."

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) accused UNIFIL of shooting down one of their drones yesterday in southern Lebanon, in the Kfar Kila area, where Israeli troops were carrying out a reconnaissance mission. “A preliminary investigation revealed that UNIFIL deliberately fired at the drone, despite it not posing any threat,” the IDF said in a statement. “IDF forces threw a hand grenade into the area where the drone was shot down,” the statement continued, claiming that “no shots were fired at UNIFIL forces.” Yesterday, UNIFIL reported on ‘X’ that the Israeli Defense Forces “fired with a tank against the peacekeepers” in southern Lebanon and that “fortunately the attack caused no injuries or damage”. UNIFIL also stressed that “these actions by the Israeli Defense Forces violate Security Council Resolution 1701 and the sovereignty of Lebanon and demonstrate disregard for the safety of peacekeepers carrying out the tasks entrusted by the Security Council in southern Lebanon”. In reconstructing what happened, UNIFIL also said that"an Israeli drone approached a UNIFIL patrol operating near Kfar Kila and dropped a grenade against peacekeeping forces." Consequently,"peacekeeping forces applied the necessary defensive countermeasures to neutralize the drone," the post reads.
