Early Thursday morning, war alarms sounded in several parts of Israel. Civilians were urged to take shelter before Iranian rockets hit several locations in Tel Aviv, Ramat Gan and Holon.
Around fifty people are reported to have been injured in the attacks. In Tel Aviv, five people are reported to have been seriously injured, writes Sky News.
The Soroka Medical Center in southern Israel was also hit by rockets this morning. The hospital is the largest in southern Israel and according to local officials, the building has been badly damaged. People who do not need urgent care have been urged not to come to the hospital.
Israel responds with escalated attacks
In response to this morning's attacks, Israel will"increase the intensity of attacks" against Iran, says former Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.
Even the country's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu writes on X that he promises to"extort a full price from Tehran's tyrants."
He is one of many who have pointed out that the attacks targeted civilian targets.
According to Iranian state media, the actual target was a military headquarters near Soroka Hospital.
Israel's current Defense Minister Israel Katz also confirms the intentions of escalating attacks. In a post on X, he writes:
“The Prime Minister and I have instructed the IDF to increase the intensity of attacks on strategic targets in Iran and on government targets in Tehran, in order to eliminate threats to the State of Israel and undermine the Ayatollahs’ regime.”
