Israel prepares ground maneuver in Gaza City. Defense Minister warns of a powerful hurricane.
On Monday afternoon, Benjamin Netanyahu issued a warning to Gaza residents:
– I take this opportunity and listen to me carefully: Go now! he says, according to Reuters.
This comes hours after Israel warned of further airstrikes against the area.
Netanyahu says the military is now preparing and organizing a ground maneuver in Gaza City, according to Reuters.
Such an action has been talked about for a long time.
On Monday afternoon, Defense Minister Israel Katz also issued a strong warning:
“A powerful hurricane will hit the skies over Gaza City today,” he wrote on X, adding an appeal to Hamas leaders:
– Release the hostages and lay down your weapons – otherwise Gaza will be destroyed, and you will be annihilated.
At least 64,000 people have been killed in Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip since the terrorist attacks in Israel on October 7, 2023, according to Palestinian health authorities. The figures cannot be confirmed by independent sources.
Among those killed are 20,000 children, according to the organization Save the Children. This means that an average of one child has been killed every hour in the 23 months since Israeli forces began attacking Gaza.
Six killed in Jerusalem
Earlier on Monday, two Palestinians killed six bus passengers in Jerusalem. Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar accused the Palestinian Authority of inciting terrorism and violence against Israel.
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas distanced himself from the shooting. At the same time, he made it clear that stability in the region depends on ending Israel's occupation of Palestinian territories, ending the genocide in Gaza, and ending the terror perpetrated by Israeli settlers in the West Bank.
