"Ukraine has again attacked an oil pipeline leading to Hungary, cutting off its supplies. This yet another blow to our energy security is shameful and unacceptable," the Hungarian minister said on the social network X.
Szijjártó did not specify when or where the attack took place. Citing Russian Deputy Energy Minister Pavel Sorokin, he added that"specialists are working to restore the transformer substation" responsible for the pipeline. It is not yet known when supplies will be restored.
The Hungarian foreign minister said that Budapest is not involved in the war between Moscow and Kiev."A reminder to decision-makers in Ukraine: electricity from Hungary is essential for your country's electricity supply," Szijjártó said.
The Hungarian Foreign Minister announced on August 13 that a Ukrainian drone had hit the"main distribution station of the Druzhba oil pipeline" in the Bryansk region. Local authorities then reported that a fire broke out at a fuel infrastructure facility in the Unech region after a combined strike by the Ukrainian army with HIMARS missiles and drones on the night of August 13. It was not specified what this facility was.
In reporting the attack, Szijjártó did not indicate that oil supplies had been cut off. He spoke of a forced supply interruption on August 14. At the same time, the Hungarian foreign minister indicated that Moscow and Budapest expect oil pumping to resume on August 15.
