It's over! Pogačar is the king of the Tour again!

Sunday, July 27

Tadej Pogačar (UAE Emirates-XRG) won the most prestigious multi-day race, the Tour de France, for the fourth time in his career. Although he had a big lead over his pursuers in the overall standings before the stage, the final stage was not a formality for him, as he fought for a fifth stage victory in the race, but in the end he ran out of strength to do so.

He finished fourth in Paris, and the strongest rider today was Belgian Vout van Aert (Visma-Lease a bike), who, after attacking on the final climb to Montmartre, crossed the finish line with a 19-second lead over three riders. Italian Franco Ballerini came in second, while Slovenian Matej Mohorič (Bahrain Victorious) came in third, who, like Pogačar, put on a brave performance. Towards the back of the caravan, Primož Roglič and Luka Mezgec crossed the finish line.

This time, the organizers changed the classic sprint final stage with the arrival in Paris. They added three more laps to Montmartre, which, like last year at the Olympic Games, was once again crowded with spectators. In the middle of the stage, due to the forecasted rain, which soaked the streets of Paris, the organizers decided to neutralize the stage with 50 km to the finish, so that the racing at the end was purely for honor.

In the overall standings, Pogačar finished the Tour with a lead of four minutes and 24 seconds over Dane Jonas Vingegaard, who did not attempt to attack the Slovenian in the final stage, and the attack was staged before the spectacular climbs in the final part of the race by Florian Lipowitz, who gained ten seconds and finally overtook Scot Oscar Onley in the fight for third place.

Pogačar has tied Briton Chris Froome for the number of Tour victories, leaving only four cyclists ahead of him with five victories each: Frenchman Jacques Anquetil and Bernard Hinault , Belgian Eddy Merckx and Spaniard Miguel Indurain.
