At least four soldiers were seriously injured  during a shooting at the US military base of Fort Stewart, in Georgia. The news was reported by the Facebook page Fort Stewart Hunter Army Airfield. According to CNN, citing police sources, the attacker is no longer a threat.

The incident occurred in the area where the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team is based. The base, the largest in the United States, is located about 60 kilometers southwest of Savannah.

The facility was immediately closed, and a lockdown was implemented throughout the area surrounding the base, home to approximately 10,000 soldiers, families, and staff. Elementary schools (today was the first day of classes in the county) were closed.
