Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Abroad, said that “what is happening in the Gaza Strip not only calls into question international law, international humanitarian law, or even international institutions, but also the human conscience.” He considered that “Morocco’s position, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, is clear in this regard, which is a strong condemnation and absolute rejection of all practices and statements that undermine the security and stability of the region.”

“This retreat comes at a time when the Mediterranean is facing major challenges to security and peace, particularly the situation in Gaza, which constitutes a major challenge to international law,” Bourita said during a press conference following the opening of the high-level retreat organized by the ministry on Thursday on the future of Euro-Mediterranean relations, in the presence of Dubravka Suica, European Commissioner for the Mediterranean. “Israel’s aggressive actions against Palestinian civilians, including displacement and starvation, are all unacceptable acts that Morocco denounces and considers to pose a threat not only to security and stability in the region, but also to the security and stability of the world as a whole,” he added.

In the same context, the Moroccan diplomatic official emphasized that"these practices not only constitute a violation of international law and Security Council resolutions, but also give the impression that there is no deterrent force against what is happening in the region. Furthermore, they undermine the foundations upon which the Euro-Mediterranean space was built, as the relationship between peace in the Middle East and the construction of this space is an indivisible whole."

The same minister stressed that “Morocco, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, absolutely rejects all provocative practices and statements that talk about the deportation of Gaza residents, considering them dangerous statements that threaten security and stability, and must be dealt with with the necessary firmness and severity.” He noted that “Morocco considers the seriousness of statements about the occupation of the Gaza Strip to be measured by their attempt to undermine decades of efforts to establish a two-state solution.”

Bourita added,"The practices in Gaza aim to completely eliminate this horizon. Furthermore, the attacks and incursions taking place in Jerusalem contribute to transforming a political problem into a religious one, especially since Jerusalem has a special symbolic significance as a place of coexistence. Therefore, harming it only leads to more extremism and hatred."

The Moroccan Foreign Minister noted the Kingdom's condemnation of the recent Israeli attack on Qatar and its support for convening an Arab-Islamic summit to discuss this dangerous development. He emphasized that"the situation the region has reached is extremely dangerous and requires the international community and the Security Council to address it with the utmost responsibility, because these actions will drag the region into undesirable consequences and into matters that will be difficult to control."

In addition to his absolute condemnation and rejection of Israeli practices in the region, and his involvement in mobilization efforts at the level of the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Minister affirmed that “the Kingdom remains committed to the option of peace, which must remain a strategic option for reshaping the future of the region,” emphasizing that “the two-state solution is the only viable path forward, through the establishment of a Palestinian state on the June 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.”

In this regard, the Moroccan diplomatic official stressed that “there can be no stability in the region without the establishment of a Palestinian state, and all measures that contradict this trend only deepen tensions and extremism. However, on a strategic level, they can never eliminate the necessity of the two-state solution, which is an indispensable condition for ensuring security and peace in the region.”
