On Wednesday, right-wing conservative American influencer Charlie Kirk was shot dead at an event in front of about 3,000 people at a university in the US state of Utah. The attacker is believed to have been Tyler Robinson.
Following the fatal shooting of right-wing conservative American influencer Charlie Kirk, investigators have arrested a suspect, President Donald Trump announced. Authorities said at a press conference on Friday that Robinson was betrayed by a family friend, a youth pastor. Robinson's father reportedly recognized his son in the photos and demanded that he turn himself in. He also called a friend, a youth pastor, for help. The friend then notified police, CNN reports.
"Hey, fascist, catch it!"
According to Utah Governor Spencer Cox, who led the press conference, Robinson reportedly told family members before Charlie Kirk's visit to Utah that the podcaster and Trump supporter was"full of hate" - a clue to his motive. Robinson was seen on video entering the university campus four hours before the fatal shooting, dressed as the gunman, who was later photographed.
Especially disturbing: Various phrases were engraved on the bullets in the murder weapon's magazine, including"Hey Fascist, catch me" and "Bella Ciao" - an allusion to an old partisan song sung by Italian fighters during World War II in their fight against Nazi Germany.
Tyler Robinson was arrested just a day after the assassination of Kirk, who left behind a wife and two young children. According to the New York Times, police arrested Robinson on Thursday night in St. George near Zion National Park, about 250 miles from the campus where Kirk was killed.

Authorities had previously offered a $100,000 reward for information leading to his arrest. It is unclear whether the youth pastor will receive the money.
The 22-year-old student faces the death penalty. According to Trump, Governor Cox has already indicated that he will seek the death penalty for Kirk's shooter. In an interview with Fox & Friends, Trump said:"I hope he is found guilty and he receives the death penalty. Charlie Kirk was a great man and he did not deserve this," he was quoted as saying by numerous American media outlets.
