The event, which brought together many figures from the railway sector, was opened by the Minister of Transport and Logistics, Abdessamad Kayouh, the Director General of ONCF, Mohamed Rabie Khlie, as well as the Director General of the International Union of Railways (UIC), François Davenne.

Held under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, this two-day meeting focuses on the theme"Railway Safety of Tomorrow: Combining People and Technology." Discussions address emerging safety challenges, innovation, digitalization, and artificial intelligence in the service of railway safety. The proceedings also cover international cooperation, station security, and the specific safety requirements of high-speed lines. In his opening address, Abdessamad Kayouh highlighted the development of rail in Morocco, driven by royal directives, and commended the efforts of the ONCF (Moroccan National Railways Office) and its Director General to successfully expand and modernize the national network.

For his part, Mohamed Rabie Khlie stated that holding a congress of this magnitude in Rabat illustrates the trust placed in Morocco. He also emphasized the importance of the chosen theme, noting that the Office has a robust system in place to support this priority.

The Moroccan National Railways Office (ONCF) employs 1,200 security agents deployed across the entire network, whose security is also ensured by the Royal Gendarmerie and the Police. In addition to this number, there are another 900 agents responsible for ticket checks in stations. To further strengthen security, the Office has installed nearly 2,000 cameras along the routes and in stations, the head of Moroccan railways told the press.

The Director General finally mentioned the ongoing projects to modernize and expand the network, referring to total investments of around $10 billion, particularly for the Rabat-Marrakech high-speed rail project, the development of suburban trains and the construction of new stations.
