FC Bayern Munich experienced a dismal Saturday. The record champions lost the quarterfinals of the Club World Cup against Paris Saint-Germain due to a blunder from superstar Harry Kane. However, Jamal Musiala's serious injury may weigh even more heavily.

FC Bayern's season is over. On a bitter Saturday, the German record champions lost 2-0 (0-0) to Paris Saint-Germain in the quarterfinals of the Club World Cup. This eliminated Bayern from the tournament, marking club legend Thomas Müller's final game in a Bayern jersey.

Desiré Doué scored the decisive goal in Atlanta in the 78th minute. This followed a fatal loss of possession by Bayern superstar Harry Kane, whose equalizer was ruled out for offside a few minutes later. Earlier, a goal by Dayot Upamecano had already been rightly disallowed. (45+2)

In the end, Munich were unsuccessfully challenged by only nine opponents. Two Paris players, Willian Pacho and former Munich player Lucas Hernández, were sent off for fouls in the closing stages. But this numerical superiority didn't help Bayern. Quite the opposite: Ousmane Dembélé scored the 2-0 (90'+6') for the French side after a counterattack, and they will now face the winner of the Borussia Dortmund-Real Madrid match in the semifinals.

First suspicion for Musiala: broken leg

Bayern also had to endure a horrific injury to Jamal Musiala. PSG defender Willian Pacho blocked Musiala's shot in his own penalty area shortly before halftime. Then goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma rushed forward and threw himself at the ball with great effort. The 1.96-meter-tall, 90-kilogram Italian got hold of the ball, but also of Musiala.
