War in Ukraine

The Russian-Ukrainian war has been going on for more than three years. The front lines are now essentially frozen, but the conflict seems to be escalating as the warring parties try to acquire more allies and weapons and involve more countries in the conflict. But what will be decisive: arms shipments, sanctions, or perhaps peace talks? How long will the Ukrainians hold out and how long will Russian society tolerate the losses? We will try to answer these questions in our series of articles.

New drone tactics have led, among other things, to the Russians achieving success at Pokrovsk and the possibility of encircling Ukrainian positions and units. The Russians have responded creatively to the Ukrainians erecting a “drone wall” on the front to stop offensives and incursions. They have created a unit called Rubicon to take on Ukrainian drone operators. According to an article in the Financial Times, they have succeeded: they are providing them with a huge resource, both in drones, intelligence data and people – and they have also gained experience.

A Ukrainian operator, whose call sign is Dmytro, told the British newspaper that even a short walk could be fatal for them. He also almost died when he left his bunker to clear his head. He was lucky that when he tried to shoot the drone chasing him with his rifle, he managed to distract his operator, who eventually missed his target with his drone.
