Russia conducted another mass missile and drone attack overnight Sunday-Monday, assailing regions across Ukraine, but particularly the Rivne region, far from the front lines, in western Ukraine.
At least one person has been confirmed dead Monday morning, the chief of the Regional Military Administration, Oleksandr Koval, reported on Telegram.
Rivne Mayor Oleksandr Tretyak called it “the largest attack” on the region.
According to AFP, the Russian onslaught caused Poland to scramble fighters on airfield alert status.
“Due to the intensive air attack by the Russian Federation on the territory of Ukraine, Polish and allied aircraft began to operate in Polish airspace in the morning,” Warsaw’s Operational Command (Dowództwo Operacyjne RSZ) said in a statement on social media.
Meanwhile, in the capital, Kyiv, an office building was damaged in the Darnytsia district, The head of the Kyiv Municipal Military Administration, Tymur Tkachenko, reported on Telegram.
A private home, vehicle, and outbuilding were also damaged in the Boryspil district, Kyiv Regional Police reported.
According to Koval, Ukrainian air defense has intercepted a large number of incoming targets.
Koval said more details of the strike would be made available.
