Charlie Kirk murder: Trump announces arrest of alleged killer: "His father convinced him to turn himself in."

Friday, September 12

The alleged killer of Charlie Kirk is in custody. Donald Trump announced this in an interview with Fox:"With a high degree of certainty, we have the person suspect" of the assassination. The President of the United States said he hopes that the killer of the 31-year-old conservative activist, killed on Wednesday at Utah Valley University, will be sentenced to death. The man was reported to the police by his family, according to what Trump also said: he was convinced to turn himself

to the authorities by his father,"a man of faith," possibly a reverend.

The man is believed to be 20 years old and was taken into custody by authorities at 11 p.m. local time yesterday (6 a.m. Italian time), after being located in Utah near Zion National Park, about 250 miles from Utah Valley University, where the murder took place. A source familiar with the investigation revealed this to the New York Times. The 20-year-old reportedly confessed to his father that he was the shooter, CNN reports, citing two familiar sources. The father then reportedly informed the authorities and kept his son under surveillance until they arrived.

The escape from the roof and the photos released

The killer managed to fatally hit Kirk from a considerable distance – over 100 meters – by shooting from the roof of a school building . He then fled, as shown by the images released by the authorities , until he slipped into a wooded area , where the weapon was found. His face has now been bouncing around in police alerts and on the news: the boy is wearing a cap with a visor, a long-sleeved T-shirt with the American flag and an eagle with its wings spread. The t-shirt, according to initial reconstructions, appears to come from the Disabled Veterans National Foundation which sent it in recent years to potential supporters of the association.

Trump: “Turning point will continue”

The killing of Charlie Kirk appears to be an “isolated incident, not part of a network,” Trump himself specified during an interview with Fox & Friends. “Kirk was like a son,” the US president added, describing the MAGA activist as “a bright guy ” who “helped me with TikTok ,” adding that Republicans typically struggle to win over young voters. Trump then said he hadn’t wanted to watch the video of the shooting, but that he had heard it was “horrible.” And regarding the alleged murderer he stressed: “I imagine he will be found guilty – and I hope he is sentenced to death. “In Utah they have the death penalty and they have a very good governor

there,” the American president declared again.

Trump also hinted that Charlie Kirk's political organization, Turning Point USA, will continue to work to mobilize young voters to vote for Trump even after his death: “He had a passion for this. I spoke to his wife yesterday. She's devastated, but they want to keep Turning Point going,” he said. Trump also said that some donations have been made to the organization: “They want to keep Turning Point alive. They believe they can do it. They have a very good staff .”
