None of the 117 medical residency applicants who re-took the exam due to suspicion of fraudwere able to revalidate their original score. Presidential spokesman Manuel Adorni confirmed this at a press conference on Friday.

"In most cases, the difference between the original grade and the second exam grade is absolutely scandalous ," he said.

In addition, Adorni detailed that 109 of the 117 doctors who took the new test are foreigners and that this afternoon around 2 p.m. the Ministry of Health will announce the results.

After taking the exam at the Palacio Libertad (formerly CCK), many candidates had stated that the new exam was much more difficult than the first one.

The contestants who took the test on Thursday represented almost 83% of the 141 doctors who had been summoned by the Ministry of Health to ratify their high scores from July 1 in a second round.

This comes after authorities validated the charges against some of the 268 initial fraud suspects; that is, 127 people were ultimately cleared of the additional charges in a sort of second screening.

Of those who took the exam on Thursday, only eight were graduates of Argentine universities. Among the foreigners who took the test again was the Ecuadorian man reported by the government to the courts, accused of obtaining the answers to the 100 questions on the first test thanks to communication with third parties he maintained secretly via his smart glasses and cell phone.

Controls and rules

The new evaluation of residency applicants was conducted without electronic devices and with controls even when going to the bathroom.

In order to"clearly determine the rules and pedagogical aspects" that will govern the exam, and"to guarantee the seriousness, fairness, and integrity of the results," Provision 61/2025, published this Tuesday in the Official Gazette, detailed the evaluation criteria and modalities, as well as other related general conditions.

According to the text, the following were tested: knowledge and its application,"as well as the understanding of the pathophysiological, diagnostic and therapeutic mechanisms, the construction of logical differential diagnoses, the foundation of clinical decisions, the integration of knowledge, clarity of expression, and the upholding of ethical principles in responses."

Correct answers had to be marked "with a specific criterion and in black ink." Each question was worth one point.

Regarding the evaluation criteria, “a possible deviation of up to 10% in the grade obtained in the exam of July 1, 2025 will be considered, maintaining said grade.”

"If the applicant obtains a grade lower than the deviation, the grade obtained in this instance will be assigned ," the document clarified.

It was also mentioned that"under no circumstances may an applicant obtain a higher score than that obtained on the July 1, 2025, exam, and that score will therefore be retained for the purpose of determining the merit ranking."
