The incident took place between Stevenage and Peterborough stations, all train services were suspended due to the incident, and the LNER Railway Company urged people to"not travel" due to "major disruption" to traffic following multiple stabbings on a train to Huntingdon in Cambridgeshire, reports the BBC.

More than 30 armed police officers are on the scene, and so far no details have been released about how many people were stabbed, nor how serious the injuries were.

LNER, which operates East Coast Main Line services in Great Britain, said on Platform X that"major disruption to the LNER line" was in effect, meaning that all rail lines in the area were blocked.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said in an announcement on Platform X that"the terrifying incident on the train near Huntingdon is deeply concerning".

"My thoughts are with all those affected and I thank the emergency services for their response. Anyone in the area should follow the advice of the police," Starmer said.
