The explosion near Warsaw that occurred last night was caused by a Russian drone. This was stated at a press conference by Polish Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosyniak-Kamysz, quoted by Onet.

"Russia is again provoking NATO member states. After the drone incidents that occurred in Romania, Lithuania, and Latvia, we are again dealing with a Russian drone," he told reporters.

According to him, all relevant departments of the Polish state are involved in clarifying the circumstances of the incident, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs"will take appropriate diplomatic steps."

The Deputy Operational Commander of the Polish Armed Forces, General Dariusz Malinowski, clarified that a so-called decoy drone flew into the country's territory, which did not have a strike warhead, but had an explosive charge for self-destruction.

"In our assessment, this drone is designed to be very difficult to detect. It probably flew very low to avoid our radar field. That's all we have information about today," the general added.

Defense Minister Kosyniak-Kamysh emphasized that the"provocative nature" of the event was obvious.

Drone incident in Poland

As UNIAN reported, today in Poland, approximately 77 km from Warsaw, an unknown object, identified as a drone, exploded. The explosion occurred in the middle of a cornfield, so no one was injured. Polish media reported that it was probably a"Shahed".

This is not the first time that munitions from Ukraine have landed on Polish territory. For example, in April 2023, fragments of a Russian Kh-55 cruise missile were found in Poland.

And in November 2022, a Ukrainian anti-aircraft missile fell in a Polish border village, killing two people.
