According to Italian media, Baumgartner lost control of the paraglider around 4:00 p.m., after he allegedly became ill in the air. The aircraft fell straight into the hotel pool, and the impact was fatal. The police and ambulance responded immediately, but unfortunately the athlete died on the spot.

A young woman was also slightly injured in the incident, whose health condition has not yet been specified. She was reportedly near the crash site, and local authorities are investigating all the circumstances of the accident
