According to Italian media, Baumgartner lost control of the paraglider around 4:00 p.m., after he allegedly became ill in the air. The aircraft fell straight into the hotel pool, and the impact was fatal. The police and ambulance responded immediately, but unfortunately the athlete died on the spot.

A young woman was also slightly injured in the incident, whose health condition has not yet been specified. She was reportedly near the crash site, and local authorities are investigating all the circumstances of the accident

Too much wind - last post

Just a few hours before the fatal flight, Baumgartner shared a photo on his Instagram account from the takeoff site with the caption:"Too much wind." Although he's known for ignoring the limits of what's possible, this post has a scary tone today.

Felix Baumgartner became world famous in 2012 when he performed a jump from the stratosphere from a height of 39 kilometers, which was broadcast to millions of viewers around the world. In recent years, he lived in the Swiss town of Arbon, in the canton of Thurgau.

During his career, Baumgartner performed spectacular jumps from skyscrapers, cliffs and from helicopters, and many called him"the man without fear". Unfortunately, his last flight ended tragically.
