US media giant CNN reported that President Donald Trump had doubts before deciding to attack Iran's nuclear facilities.

Trump reportedly held daily briefings with members of his national security team in the week leading up to the attack to discuss plans for the operation. CNN reported that Trump had two main concerns.

The first is that a US attack would be decisive and destroy well-fortified Iranian targets, including the underground uranium enrichment facility at Fordow. The second is that an attack could drag the US into a protracted war.

President Donald Trump said Sunday that US strikes had destroyed Iran's nuclear facilities, although other officials warned that the extent of the damage remained unclear.

"Satellite photos show that all Nuclear facilities in Iran have been severely damaged. It can best be described as destruction!" Trump wrote on social media, but he did not share the photos himself.

On Sunday night Lithuanian time, the US attacked three Iranian nuclear sites."We have completed our very successful attack on three nuclear sites in Iran, including Ford, Natanz and Esfahan. All aircraft are now out of Iranian airspace," US President Donald Trump wrote on Truth Social.

Iran itself quickly confirmed the attacks. Morteza Heydari, a spokesman for the crisis management department in Qom province, reported that “part of the Fordow nuclear site was attacked from the air,” while Akbar Salehi, the deputy security governor of Isfahan, confirmed that “several explosions were heard in Natanz and Isfahan, and we saw attacks near the Isfahan and Natanz nuclear facilities.”

After the attack, Trump also addressed the nation, and in his speech he warned Iran that the United States could take additional action if Iran did not make peace.
