The estimates at this time confirm the close battle in the pre-vote polls. The differences between the leading candidates are small. The difference between the first and second has reduced by half compared to the morning data. It seems that the battle will be fought until the polls close. The evening mobilization could greatly influence the final ranking.

UPDATE 3:00 PM – Almost 350,000 Bucharest residents voted
According to AEP data, voter turnout in Bucharest for the election of the Mayor General rose to 19.24% by 3:00 p.m., which corresponds to a total of 347,009 voters, of which 183,373 were women and 163,636 were men.
The analysis by age group shows a predominant participation among mature segments. The 45-64 age group remains the most numerous, 38.39% of the total.
Seniors 65+ follow with 31.54%, while the middle-aged electorate, 35-44 years old, represents 17.44%.
Youth participation is noticeably lower: 3.99% for 18-24 year olds and 8.64% for 25-34 year olds.
At the sector level, participation gaps continue to widen.
The highest values are recorded in Sector 1 (21.07%) and Sector 6 (22.28%), followed by Sector 5 (20.76%).
At the opposite end, Sector 4 (15.98%) and Sector 3 (17.66%) are still at the bottom, with values below the municipal average.
Voting situation in the June 9, 2024 elections
At the same time, in the elections of June 9, 2024, voter turnout in Bucharest had reached 22.09%, which meant a total of 399,585 voters.
Women continued to be the dominant segment, totaling 215,032 voters, while men registered 184,553 voters, the difference confirming the constant trend of higher participation among women.
UPDATE – Sociologist: Voter turnout is steadily increasing – 80% of the level at 1:00 PM in 2024
Sociologist Remus Ștefureac reports a steady increase in voter turnout compared to the local elections on June 9, 2024.
The share of hourly increases suggests a possible recovery in voter mobilization.
"The increase in attendance compared to the hourly rate in 2024 continues. The share of attendance in the last 4 hours compared to the hourly attendance since the local elections of June 9, 2024 is constantly increasing," announced Ștefureac.
UPDATE 2:00 PM – Voter turnout – 16.42%
According to data centralized in real time by the Permanent Electoral Authority (AEP), voter turnout in Bucharest for the election of the Mayor General rose to 16.42% at 2:00 p.m., which corresponds to a total of 296,236 voters.
Most voted on permanent lists, where 287,106 people were registered.
Mobilization is higher among women, who gathered 156,217 votes, while men reached 140,019 votes.
At the sector level, clear differences in participation remain. Values range between 13.53% and 19.17%, with Sector 1 (18.24%) and Sector 6 (19.17%) among the most active.
In contrast, Sector 4 (13.53%) and Sector 3 (16.68%) continue to be below the average for the Capital. Sector 5 (15.11%) and Sector 2 (17.60%) register moderate participation.
Attendance remains on the rise, but the pace is slower than in previous elections in the capital.
UPDATE – First results. How Bucharesters have voted so far
According to the first poll on voting day, presented by Antena 3 CNN and conducted by ARA Public Opinion at the level of the Municipality of Bucharest, voters present in the first part of the day opted for the lesser evil in a proportion of 47%.
A sign that many Bucharest residents who go to the polls are more likely to vote for a useful option to avoid an unwanted option, not necessarily because they are excited about the offer.
Almost one in three voters say they decided in the voting booth who to vote for.
UPDATE – Anca Alexandrescu, after the vote: It is the experience of my life
Anca Alexandrescu, the independent candidate supported by AUR for Bucharest City Hall, voted on Sunday and said she chose"a city where we can live and where we can afford to live."
Upon leaving the polls, Anca Alexandrescu said that the entire campaign represented"a gift" and "the experience of her life."

UPDATE 1:00 PM – 237,545 Bucharest residents voted
As of this writing, 237,545 voters have turned out to vote, representing a turnout of 13.17%. Of these, 124,927 are women (52.59%) and 112,619 are men (47.41%).
The age structure indicates a high interest among adults and seniors:
18-24 years: 2.82%; 25-34 years: 6.72%; 35-44 years: 14.97%; 45-64 years: 38.48%;
65+ years: 37.01%.
UPDATE – Daniel Băluță:"It's not a symbol of despair, but of optimism and the desire to change something"
Daniel Băluță, the PSD candidate for mayor of the capital, voted on Sunday at lunchtime and sent a message of hope to Bucharest residents. He stressed the importance of concrete results in the face of political scandals.
"It is a special day for all of us, for the people of Bucharest. I want to thank from the bottom of my heart the people of Bucharest who are participating in the vote today and all those who have been with me in this electoral campaign, because, finally, the time has come for the results to be what matter," said Băluță.
UPDATE 12:00 – Voter turnout – 9.61%
At 12:00, the turnout for the Bucharest Mayoral Election reached 9.61%, which means a total of 173,314 voters. Of these, 165,754 voted on permanent and complementary lists, 6,898 on supplementary lists, and 662 via the mobile ballot box.
The gender distribution shows a slightly higher mobilization among women: 90,918 women (52.14%) and 83,495 men (47.86%).
In terms of age groups, participation is dominated by the mature and senior electorate.
The 18-24 age segment represents 2.82% of the total, the 25-34 age group reaches 6.72%, and the 35-44 age category reaches 14.97%.
The highest participation comes from people aged 45-64 (38.48%) and those over 65 (37.01%), these two segments accounting for over three-quarters of total voters by noon.
By sector, the presence differs moderately: Sector 6 leads with 11.29%, followed by Sector 1 (10.44%) and Sector 4 (10.52%).
The lowest values are recorded in Sector 3, with 7.86%, and in Sector 5, with 8.92%.
Participation continues to grow at a constant pace, with a visibly stronger mobilization among the mature and female electorate.
Situation as of June 9, 2024
At the same time, during the PMB Elections on June 9, 2024, in Bucharest, a total of 232,694 people voted.
Of these, 126,520 were women (54.4%) and 107,821 were men (46.6%).
Analysis by age group shows important differences in participation.
The 18-24 age category recorded approximately 3.01% of total voters, while the 25-34 age segment represented 8.31%.
Attendance progressively increased among adult groups: 35-44 year olds accumulated 16.38%, and the highest participation was recorded among people aged 45-64, with 36.46% of the total votes.
Seniors aged 65+ also had high mobilization, reaching 35.85% of total voters.
UPDATE – Inscop director's warning
Remus Ștefureac, director of the polling institute Inscop, issued a warning on Sunday, after the first hours of voting, that a voter turnout below 30% is possible if the low pace from the morning hours in the capital's mayoral election is maintained.

UPDATE 11:00 AM – Voter turnout – 6.26%
At 11:00, voter turnout for the Bucharest Mayoral Election reached 6.26%, representing a total of 112,883 voters.
Of the total voters, 57,876 are women (approximately 51.27%) and 55,007 are men (48.73%).
Participation continues to grow at a steady pace.

Cătălin Drulă, the USR candidate for Mayor of the Capital, exercised his right to vote on Sunday morning at a polling station at Tudor Vianu College in Bucharest, accompanied by his family.
"I believe that these elections must be viewed with optimism, with confidence in the future. I urge Bucharesters to go to the polls, to choose with their hearts, with confidence, because this is how the future is built," Drulă declared after voting.

POT candidate, George Burcea, voted on Sunday at a polling station in Bucharest,"with trust in God."
"I voted with my heart, soul and trust in God and the fact that Bucharest can change through us," said Burcea, upon leaving the polls.

So far, a turnout of 3.62% has been recorded. Of the 1,803,728 voters registered on the permanent and complementary lists, a total of 65,323 voters cast their votes.
Of these, 33,472 are women and 31,851 are men.
By sectors, the situation is as follows: Sector 1 – 3.83%, Sector 2 – 3.74%, Sector 3 – 2.91%, Sector 4 – 3.84%, Sector 5 – 3.44%, and Sector 6 – 4.09%.

Ana Ciceală, the SENS party candidate for the Capital City Hall, voted on Sunday morning and sent a message of encouragement to Bucharest residents, inviting them to participate in the election as early as possible to avoid the evening crowds.
"We voted in a minute, it was very easy to vote. I encourage all Bucharest residents to do this as soon as possible, to find their polling station on registrulelectoral.ro, because at local polling stations you cannot vote in every polling station," said Ciceală.
UPDATE – Ciprian Ciucu voted for the Capital City Hall"with a peaceful heart"
Ciprian Ciucu voted for the mayor general on Sunday around 9 a.m."It's not raining anymore, come and vote," is Ciucu's exhortation.
Ciucu said he voted for integrity and is appealing to Bucharest residents to come and vote, because"it's not raining anymore."
"I voted with a peaceful heart because I did everything I could in this campaign and I call on people to vote, to come and vote, to express their vote," Ciucu said.
UPDATE TIME 09:00 – Voter turnout – 1.87%
At 09:00, the turnout in the PMB Elections reached 1.87%, with 28,230 voters. Of these, 17,105 are women and 16,965 are men.
At the same time, in the previous 2024 elections for the Capital City Hall, voter turnout was 3.3%, which meant a total of 58,842 voters, of which 28,520 were women and 30,322 were men.
At that time, 1,791,255 voters were on the permanent lists.
UPDATE 08:00 – 15,916 voters
Voter turnout in Bucharest reached 0.88%, with a total of 15,916 voters so far, with almost equal participation between women and men. Analysis by sector shows moderate differences in voter mobilization.
Sector 1 remains in the lead with a turnout of 0.98%, followed by Sector 5 with 0.95% and Sector 4 with 0.94%. In Sector 2, the turnout is 0.92%, and in Sector 6, 0.84%. The lowest mobilization is recorded in Sector 3, where the turnout is 0.75%.

So far, a turnout of 0.68% has been recorded, i.e. 12,138 voters.
UPDATE TIME 07:15 – Voter turnout – 0.22%
There are 1,289 polling stations open in Bucharest, with 1,779,080 voters registered on the permanent lists and 24,648 on the complementary lists.
By 07:15, 3,954 people had voted (2,480 on permanent lists, 1,473 on complementary lists and 1 through a mobile ballot box), corresponding to a turnout of 0.22%.
Participation continues to increase, with a stronger trend among middle-aged and female voters.
UPDATE 07:00 - Voting starts
Elections are taking place in Bucharest today, after former mayor general, Nicușor Dan, was elected president of Romania.
Bucharest residents can exercise their right to vote only at the polling station to which they are assigned according to their home address or, as the case may be, their residence address, if this was established at least six months before the election date, respectively before June 7, 2025, according to the AEP.
In Bucharest 1,289 polling stations will be organized.
In Sector 1, 166 sections are organized, in Sector 2 there are 202, in Sector 3 there are 294, in Sector 4 there are 189, in Sector 5 there are 198, and in Sector 6 there are 240.
According to official data, there are 1,779,080 registered voters in Bucharest, distributed across the six sectors as follows: 210,685 in Sector 1, 292,894 in Sector 2, 440,813 in Sector 3, 269,362 in Sector 4, 239,783 in Sector 5 and 325,543 in Sector 6.
Voting takes place between 7:00 and 21:00.
Required documents
Voters who go to the polls can only vote if they present a valid ID on polling day.
The following are recognized: identity card, electronic identity card, provisional identity card, identity card, diplomatic passport, electronic diplomatic passport, as well as service passport or electronic service passport.
Students in military schools can vote with their military service card.
The authorities state that the simple passport and the simple electronic passport (tourist) cannot be used to vote.
European Union citizens with domicile or residence in Romania can exercise their right to vote in local elections under the same conditions as Romanian citizens, in compliance with the legal obligations of registration and presentation of documents provided by law.
How do you find out which polling station you are assigned to?
In these elections, voters can vote at the polling station where they are assigned according to their domicile or residence. Usually, a person is included on the permanent list based on their domicile, but if they have registered their residence at the city hall, they will be assigned to a polling station according to their residence address.
This information can be found in the Electoral Register, which can be consulted on the page www.registrulelectoral.ro. On this page, the required fields must be completed: CNP, Last name and the option"Partial local elections 07.12.2025" must be chosen.
How the vote is conducted
Upon entering the polling station, the identity document is scanned and verified in the Voter Turnout Monitoring Information System (SIMPV). Following verification of the voter's registration in the electoral lists, the voter signs in the corresponding list, after which he receives the ballot paper and the stamp with the mention"VOTED".
The vote is cast in the voting booth, by applying the stamp"VOTED" inside the quadrilateral corresponding to the chosen option. The folded ballot is inserted into the ballot box, and the stamp is returned to the members of the electoral bureau of the polling station.
Photographing or filming the ballot, as well as any form of disclosure of the voting option within the polling station, is prohibited.
Voters who, for objective reasons, cannot vote alone may be accompanied to the voting booth by a person of their choice, other than members of the electoral bureau, candidates or accredited persons.
The ballot for the Capital City Hall
The ballot that Bucharest residents will receive in these elections includes 17 candidates from which to choose their favorite to hold the position of mayor general.
The validation and order on the ballots were finalized before the withdrawal announced by two of them, namely independents Vlad Gheorghe and Orlando Teodorovici.
Voters will have eight candidates on the ballot distributed across two tabs, plus one more on the third tab.
