This Sunday, October 26, Colombia experienced another round of elections, as citizens went to the polls to participate in the Historic Pact consultation. In this process, the presidential candidate who will represent the movement in 2026 was determined, as well as the names that will make up the lists for Congress.
After the polls closed this Sunday, October 26, for the Historic Pact referendum, a winner was determined. Iván Cepeda is the virtual winner.
Iván Cepeda won by a total of 564,093 votes against former health minister Carolina Corcho, who obtained 268,674 votes.
President Gustavo Petro referred to Iván Cepeda's victory."Democracy prevails and we must obey it. The people have freely chosen. And now it's what Colombian society wants, whether backward or forward," he stated on his X minutes account after the results of the candidate for the consultation that will take place in March were known.

Presidential pre-candidate, María Fernanda Cabal, stated that:"Preliminary data speaks of the participation of a little more than 1,200,000 people in these elections of the Historic Pact of the new member of the Clinton list that cost us $200,000 million pesos," she wrote on her X account.
But there is no money for health, education and security.
The presidential pre-candidate, María José Pizarro, also celebrated Iván Cepeda's victory:"We are united by history, struggles and certainty. I feel happy and proud to have made the decision to support you, it is our commitment to Colombia," she stated on her X account, while sharing a photograph with Cepeda.
Former environment minister Susana Muhamad congratulated Cepeda on his victory at the polls."Dear Iván Cepeda, we did it and we achieved it! #CepedaPresidente2026," she wrote on her X account.

The senator of the Historic Pact, Jahel Quiroga Carillo, celebrated Cepeda as the winning pre-candidate."Today the people spoke clearly. Iván Cepeda won the Historic Pact consultation with the strength of those who believe in truth, peace and social justice," she stated.
This is just the beginning of the path toward the Broad Front and a more dignified Colombia.

Vicky Dávila spoke out against Iván Cepeda's victory. The presidential candidate stated on her X account that:"Iván Cepeda won the Petrista referendum. He is the candidate of PETRO and his FRIENDS and he wants to continue the destructive work of this corrupt government."
Cepeda is a threat to Colombia, because he will have the power of the state apparatus at his disposal.

The hundreds of thousands of citizens who came out to vote today and elected Senator Iván Cepeda as the legitimate candidate of the left and the next congressmen of the pact, despite the difficulties, obstacles, and misinformation, are also a powerful citizen endorsement of the President, whose libertarian spirit drove this consultation," he concluded.
