An important statement from the IAEA reveals the impact of the US attack on Iran's nuclear sites.

Sunday, June 22

Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Mariano Grossi, confirmed that no increase in radiation levels has been recorded so far outside the three Iranian nuclear sites attacked by the United States, and reiterated his call for restraint and the necessary steps to reach a diplomatic solution.

According to the United Nations Information Center, Grossi called for an emergency meeting of the IAEA Board of Governors tomorrow, Monday, in view of the increasingly serious situation regarding nuclear safety and security.

Iranian authorities have informed the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) that no increase in radiation levels outside the sites was recorded following the recent attacks on three Iranian nuclear facilities, including the Fordow uranium enrichment site.

"We do not yet expect any health consequences for people or the environment outside the targeted sites," Grossi said, stressing that the agency will continue to monitor and assess the situation in Iran and will provide further updates as additional information becomes available.

According to the latest information verified by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) prior to the June 13 attacks on Iran, the three sites targeted by the United States, including Isfahan and Natanz, contain nuclear material in the form of enriched uranium at varying levels, potentially causing radioactive and chemical contamination within the bombed facilities.

Grossi reiterated that"nuclear facilities should never be attacked," calling for a cessation of hostilities so that the agency can resume vital inspections in the country, including the necessary verification of Iran's stockpile of highly enriched uranium. He also stressed the importance of continued, timely information exchange with Iran on issues related to nuclear safety, security, and safeguards.
