President of the United States Donald Trump said that he did not discuss a ceasefire in Ukraine with Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky. He announced this during a press conference at the NATO summit in The Hague, writes Clash Report.

"I just wanted to ask how he was doing. We had a tough time, but he was very nice. He couldn't have been nicer than he was. I was glad to see him. It was a great meeting. I think it's a great time to stop the war. Maybe I'll talk to President Putin to stop the war," he said.

He noted that Zelenskyy"is fighting a difficult battle, but he is successful in it."

"The war in Ukraine is more difficult than other wars. It's very difficult with Putin, and I also had some problems with Zelensky," Trump said.

According to him, Europe is becoming stronger to take more responsibility for its security.

"This will help prevent future disasters, such as the terrible situation with Russia and Ukraine, and hopefully we will solve this problem," the politician noted.

Trump also said that over 7,000 Ukrainian and Russian soldiers were killed last week. He added:

"They are also getting hits in some cities. And that means life is disappearing in cities and towns as well. This should never have happened, it would never have happened if I were president."

Trump's meeting with Zelensky

Zelensky and Trump met today in The Hague: the talks lasted approximately 40-50 minutes. Ukrainian leader called it"long and meaningful."

"We covered all the really important issues. I thank Mr. President, I thank the United States. We talked about how to achieve a ceasefire and real peace. We talked about how to protect our people," he wrote.

Zelensky added that Kyiv"appreciates Washington's attention" and willingness to "help bring peace closer."
