As part of the recovery and repair operations, the car that fell into the sinkhole at Tanjong Katong Road South has been removed.
Relevant agencies and workers have been working around the clock since the incident happened at around 5:50pm on Jul. 26.
On Jul. 27, a crane arrived on-site at around 1pm to prepare for the retrieval of the car. Around 1:53pm, a couple of workers were lowered into the sinkhole to secure the vehicle to the crane.
At around 2:07pm, the car was lifted out by a crane.
The front bumper of the car had completely fallen off, the windshield was shattered, and water was dripping out of the vehicle.
While the sinkhole was dry when the car fell into it, two water mains were damaged by the incident.
The entire operation took approximately eight minutes, from lifting the car out to placing a tarp over it.
The car was then taken away at around 2:53pm.
