Poland is discussing the possibility of activating NATO's Article 4, Polish President Nawrocki announced.

Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Chief of the General Staff Wieslaw Kukula also attended the extraordinary meeting of the National Security Office.

Article 4 allows for joint consultations among the Alliance's member states if, in the opinion of any member, its territorial integrity, independence or security is threatened.

The activation of Article 4 does not mean the immediate use of military force, but is used as a prelude to tougher steps, such as strengthening defenses.

According to Nawrocki, the response mechanisms worked and the cooperation between the Polish army and the allies was effective."We confirmed that within the North Atlantic Alliance we are able to respond to this type of situation," he said, adding that he wanted to thank all Polish soldiers, especially pilots, as well as the allies for their deployment.

BBN chief Slawomir Cenckiewicz said that such an effective response would not have been possible without cooperation with NATO allies. He recalled that this was the first such massive drone attack on Poland, and called on residents to rely exclusively on official statements and beware of the misinformation that is being spread.
