US President Donald Trump said today that he wants to arrange a meeting between Vladimir Putin, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and himself almost immediately after his summit with the Russian president on Friday in Alaska.
If the first one goes well, we will have a short second one, he said, after the video conference he had with European leaders and Zelensky.
"Some great things can be accomplished in the first meeting - it will be a very important meeting - but this sets the stage for a second meeting," Trump told reporters, referring to a very good call he had on the conference call earlier with European leaders and Zelensky.
I would like to do this almost immediately and we will have a brief second meeting between President Putin and President Zelensky and me, if they want to have me there.
