247 - President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva made, this Monday (11), an appeal for national unity, amid the attacks that Brazil has been receiving from the United States, from President Donald Trump.

Lula stated, without naming the White House chief, that the"world is becoming more perverse and evil" and once again defended national sovereignty and democracy. He spoke at an event hosted by the Ministry of Education (MEC) in Brasília, Federal District.

When awarding the MEC Prize to basic education students, the president made clear the central role of a strengthened education system for national sovereignty and criticized past governments for ignoring investment in the sector.

According to Lula, education"is the only and most effective solution to solve our country's problems." The president took the opportunity to send a message to Congress and "the government itself," stating that a strengthened Brazilian education system will come at a high cost, reinforcing the need for robust public investment.

Lula also stated that it will be a challenge to place Brazil"among the most competitive nations in the world," but he demonstrated confidence in this objective.
