Rustem Umerov, head of the Security Council of Ukraine, said today that there is a common understanding between the US and Ukraine regarding the main terms of the agreement discussed during previous talks in Geneva.
Umerov said he hopes to schedule a visit by President Volodymyr Zelensky to the United States as soon as possible this month to finalize the deal.
A US official cited by CBS said that the Ukrainian government has agreed to a peace deal brokered by the Trump administration to end Russia's nearly four-year invasion.
The Ukrainians have agreed to the peace proposal, the US official told CBS News. There are some minor details that remain to be finalized.
The American official and Ukraine's national security adviser, Rustem Umerov, said that a common understanding has been reached on the American proposal.
At the same time, the United States confirmed that its officials are going to meet with Russian representatives in Abu Dhabi.
